Rules and Regulations of Open Run Asia Hackathon 2025
§1 General provisions
- The Event is organized by BSV Association with its registered office in Zug. Additional information about the Event Organizer is provided in § 2 of the Regulations.
- Registration for participation in the Event is tantamount to accepting the provisions of the Rules and Regulations.
§2 Definitions
- Event – Open Run Asia Hackathon event organized by the Organizer, which will take place between September 9, 2025 through November 30, 2025 in an online form. The Event will take place all over Asia.
- Organizer – BSV Association. The BSV Association is a Switzerland based non-profit organisation that serves as the global advocate for the BSV blockchain. Its mission is to advance adoption and unlock the full potential of BSV as a scalable, secure, energy-efficient public blockchain built for data integrity, enterprise solutions, and government applications. The BSV Association supports developers, enterprises, and public sector institutions by fostering innovation, encouraging regulatory compliance, and promoting real-world use cases that demonstrate blockchain’s value on a global scale. Through education, developer engagement, strategic partnerships, public policy initiatives, and technological advancement, the BSV Association is committed to driving sustainable growth and long-term utility of blockchain technology.
- Participant – A person from Asia participating in the Event, who meets the conditions of participation specified in §3 of this document.
- Mentors – Individuals with knowledge and experience in the fields of business, blockchain technology, the role of mentors during the Event is to support Participants with their knowledge and experience and provide advice to teams.
- Region – The Event will take place all over Asia. Our focus countries are India, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, UAE, Singapore. Flexible participation, join from anywhere across Asia.
- Team Formation – Teams may consist of 2 to 5 members. – Participants may form teams independently or be matched through the hackathon platform.
- Solution – A working web or mobile application created by the Participant during the course of the Event. The solution must use BSV Blockchain technology. It must be Participant’s original work and must not be copied or stolen from other sources. The Organizer is not responsible for any instances of stolen or appropriated work.
- Jury – A panel of judges appointed by the Organizer, consisting of individuals with experience and recognition in the fields of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and business. The composition of the Jury will be announced by the Organizer before the start of the Event.
- Website – link to the website
- Prize – A cash prize to be equally divided among the members of the winning team, along with other prizes announced on the Website. Detailed information regarding the Prize will be provided by the Organizer prior to the start of the Event.
§3 Conditions of participation in the event
- The Event is exclusively for adults. Only adults may become Participants, Mentors, or Jury members.
- To participate in the Event, you must register using the form available on the Website. Registration is open from 23.09.2025. Both registration and participation in the Event are free of charge.
- All intellectual property developed during the hackathon shall belong to the Participants.
- The Organizer shall retain the right to showcase the Event and its outcomes in promotional materials.
- Any software, APIs, or tools provided by the Organizer shall remain the property of the Organizer.
§4 Event Theme
- During the Event, a competition will be held for participants, focusing on creating a technological s for solution related to BSV blockchain technology and must utilize BSV blockchain technology.
- Participants may use additional technologies such as AI frameworks, machine learning models, and automation tools.
- The entire solution must be developed during the Event.
- The solution includes the programming layer created as part of its development during the Event.
- All copyrights to the solution and its components must belong to the Participants who developed it. The solution must not infringe on the copyrights of third parties or any other intellectual property rights.
- The preparation of the solution or its components must not violate any laws.
- There shall be no illegal activities and no use of drugs, or illegal arms trafficking.
- Plagarism or use of unauthorized content will result in removal from the Event.
- The organizer stipulates that the Event’s theme does not include content of a pornographic nature, violence, or any other adult-only content. Consequently, the solution must not contain such content.
§5 Event Schedule
Phase 1: Announcement and Registration (September 23rd – October 21st 2025)
- September 23rd : Hackathon Announcement and Registration Opens

- This is the final day for Participants to register for the hackathon. Ensure all team members are registered before this deadline.
Phase 2: Kick-off and Workshops (October 23rd – October 26th 2025)
- October 23rd 2025: Hackathon Kick-off and AMA Session

- AMA Session: An “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) session will be held for all valid registrants. This session will cover:

- October 25th 2025: Web3.0 Application Architecture (3 hours)
Goal: Provide participants with a solid conceptual understanding of the BSV blockchain and the architecture of a modern Web3.0 application.

- Session 1.1: The Global Ledger: A New Application Paradigm (60 min)
- Content: Introduction to the public ledger as a global state machine for assets and data. We will cover core concepts like user-owned wallets, tokenized assets, and the role of Web3.0 applications in orchestrating on-chain interactions.
- Demonstration: Showcase an “ideal” Web3.0 application, explaining its problem-solution fit. Provide a live link and an open-source GitHub repository for participants to experience it firsthand as users.
- Session 1.2: Your First On-Chain Interaction (60 min)
- Content: A guided, hands-on session where participants make their first transaction using the demo application.
- Tools: Introduction to a blockchain explorer (e.g., Whatsonchain) to find, view, and understand the anatomy of their transaction on the public ledger.
- Session 1.3: The Anatomy of a Web3.0 Application
- Content: A high-level architectural diagram breaking down the essential modules of a scalable Web3.0 application. (60 min)
- Key Components:
- Frontend: The user-facing interface.
- Backend (API Server): For business logic and transaction construction.
- Wallet: The user’s key and asset manager (e.g., Paymail compatible wallets).
- Indexer: A service (like Whatsonchain) for efficiently querying on-chain data without running a full node.
- Broadcaster: A service for broadcasting transactions to the network.

3. October 26th 2025 – Workshop 2: Web3.0 Application Development (3 hours)
Goal: Equip developers with the necessary tools and a working template application to begin building their hackathon projects.

- Session 2.1: Environment Setup and Your Local dApp (90 min)
- Content: A step-by-step guide to configuring a local development environment (e.g., Node.js, required libraries, API keys for indexers).
- Action: Participants will clone the template application repository and successfully run it on their local machine, interacting with it via a test wallet.
- Session 2.2: Hacking the Frontend (45 min)
- Content: A code walkthrough of the template application’s frontend. We will focus on the modules responsible for connecting to a user’s wallet, fetching on-chain state from an indexer, and preparing transaction requests.
- Session 2.3: Hacking the Backend (45 min)
- Content: A code walkthrough of the template’s API-based backend. We will cover how to receive requests from the frontend, construct valid BSV transactions using standard libraries, and broadcast them to the network.
- Session 2.1: Environment Setup and Your Local dApp (90 min)
Phase 3: Use Case Design (October 27th – November 9th 2025)
Objective: Participants will focus on identifying problems, conducting research, and formulating a proposed solution architecture.

- Database Schema Design Tool Demo, API Design Demo
- Whitepaper Format, Architecture Tools and Techniques: This workshop will present the goal for the use case design phase with PRD templates, tools and best practices for database schema design and API design, crucial for building good applications.
- November 2nd 2025: Workshop 4: Use case Development (3 hours)

- Goal: Guide participants in customizing the template for specific hackathon tracks and implementing custom on-chain logic using widely adopted standards.
- Session 4.1: Introduction to the Hackathon Tracks (60 min)
- Content: A detailed presentation of the official hackathon challenges, providing example architectures for each track:
- Beginner: Supply Chain (tracking an asset’s journey).
- Intermediate: Security (creating verifiable credentials or immutable logs).
- Advanced: AI Integration (logging AI model outputs or prompts on-chain).
- Session 4.2: Tokenization with Established Standards (90 min)
- Content: A practical guide to creating, issuing, and transferring tokens. This session will focus on indexer-friendly standards that do not require complex custom infrastructure.
- Examples: Hands-on tutorials for 1Sat Ordinals (for NFTs and data) and STAS tokens (for fungible tokens).
- Session 4.3: Custom Logic and Data Integrity (30 min)
- Content: An introduction to the BSV Virtual Machine and crafting custom UTXOs. Learn how to implement basic locking and unlocking scripts, digital signatures for identity, and on-chain data proofs.
- November 8th 2025: Workshop 5: Advanced Usecase Development (Optional/Expert Track) (3 hours)

- Goal: Provide resources for expert-level teams aiming to build highly scalable or specialized solutions requiring custom infrastructure.
- Disclaimer: This module covers complex topics recommended for teams with prior blockchain experience who understand the infrastructure and maintenance requirements.
- Session 5.1: Custom State with Overlay Services (90 min)
- Content: A deep dive into the architecture of Overlay services for applications requiring complex state management beyond what public indexers offer.
- Focus: This session explains the trade-offs and covers the basics of deploying and maintaining the dedicated server infrastructure required for such a system.
- Session 5.2: High-Performance Smart Contracts (90 min)
- Content: An introduction to advanced scripting and smart contract development on BSV for computationally intensive use cases, exploring tools like the sCrypt compiler.
4. November 9th 2025 – Use Case Design Phase Deadline: Submit Whitepaper

- Submission: Teams must submit a whitepaper outlining:
- Their target problem.
- Key findings from their research.
- Their proposed solution approach.

Phase 4: Development (November 10th – November 23rd 2025
Objective: This two-week intensive period is dedicated to coding the solution, developing smart contracts, and integrating all application components.
September 1st: Development Phase Kick-off Session
Guidance: A session to explain detailed submission guidelines for the development phase and address any initial doubts or queries participants may have.
- November 15th 2025: Development Phase Doubt Clearing Session 1
- Support: Participants can submit a Progress Report Form with any doubts or issues they are facing prior to this session, which will then be addressed live.
- November 22nd 2025: Development Phase Doubt Clearing Session 2
- Continued Support: Another opportunity for participants to submit their Progress Report Form with doubts for clarification and assistance.
- November 23rd 2025: Development Phase Deadline: Code Solution, Smart Contracts, and Application Integration
- Submission: All developed code for the solution, smart contracts, and integrated application components must be completed by this deadline.
Phase 5: Testing, Presentation and Submission (November 24th – November 30th 2025)
The final week is dedicated to thoroughly testing the working application, preparing comprehensive documentation, creating compelling presentations, and producing video walkthroughs.

Phase 6: Winner Announcement and Demo Day (December 17th 2025)
- Celebration: The grand finale of the hackathon!
- Announcement: The winners of the Open Run Asia Hackathon will be officially announced.
- Demo Day: A public demo day will be held where the winning solutions will be presented, showcasing the innovative applications built on the BSV blockchain.
§6 Prizes
- The prize will be awarded to the winning team.
- If receiving a prize result in a tax obligation for the participant, they agree to pay such tax. The Participant acknowledges that all responsibilities related to paying any applicable taxes on the prize rest with them, not with the Organizer.
§7 Final Provisions
- Participants, Mentors, and Jury members are required to comply with these regulations and the rules in effect at the event venue. Participants must also adhere to health, safety, and fire safety regulations during the Event.
- It is stipulated that no rights, including copyright to the solution, are transferred to the Organizer; these rights remain with the Participant. Matters related to determining ownership or co-ownership rights among team participants are beyond the Organizer’s responsibility and depend solely on agreements between Participants.
- In particularly justified cases, the Organizer reserves the right to amend the regulations and will promptly notify Participants, Mentors, and Jury members by email. Individuals who do not accept the amended provisions have the right to withdraw from the Event.
- The Organizer does not supervise participants’ belongings.
- In the event of a dispute between the Organizer and a Participant, Participants have the option to use out-of-court methods for resolving complaints and pursuing claims.
- Judging Criteria – Solutions will be evaluated based on innovation, technical implementation, relevance to thematic tracks, and potential impact.
- Winning projects will be selected by a panel of judges and community votes.
- Any violation of these Terms and Conditions will result in the disqualification of the Participant and their Submission.
